Four Management Skills To Use And Grow

July 31st, 2007

Management - the final frontier of business development. And all you have to do is handle your people well - here are four easy tips to get you going.

Be Gentle To Your People

Courtesy, kindness, understanding - all words hardly befitting leading edge, tough & mean business managers. Ah, but that’s where you might be wrong. Business focus can be as sharp as you like, but that still means you treat people well. By supporting them when they need support, they will support you.

Be Generous With Others

In life there are little opportunities to give. Of time; of money; to things that need your support. Rarely will you be so short on resources that you can’t afford to support, in some small way, someone else.

Accept Gratitude Back

Treat inbound thanks and gratitude well! By taking these ‘gifts’ in a gracious, appreciative way, you build relationships. People feel good around you too.

Recognise Yourself And Your Needs Too

Don’t forget you. Making a Difference is about being accepting of yourself in all of the above. Take time to appreciate you and what you do - you are a truly great person. So accept it with good grace!

Ten easy steps to move your business along. People focused, busy where you need to be. It takes time, courage and honesty to get these right. If you do, you will inevitably be successful.

Deciding Your Dream Job - How To Get Clear

July 31st, 2007

Remember, you only get one go on this planet and you really do want to make the the most of it. And for most of us, we spend that at work. So getting your job right is a big leverage on the rest of your life too.

So, this is your space to dream and thoughtfully consider what your life will be like, when you really are living your dream job.

Using the couple of sheets of paper, write on them what the perfect work day in your dream job would be like, in an ideal world. Do it quickly, use a real pen and write!

Be descriptive - using as many of your senses as you can. For example, what you hear, what you see, what your feelings are. Be as descriptive as you like from your waking up, to the very end of your day, step-by-step, hour-by-hour.

What work is like; what happens in your mind’s eye; what you have for lunch; who you meet; who you loved working with. Even the sorts of things that are said too!

The Lawnmower - The Most Valuable Time-Saving Lawn Care Power-Tool

July 31st, 2007

To spend your rest time cutting a lawn laboriously, is pretty much agreed by gardeners across all spectrums as a bit of a waste of time and effort. There must be better things to do than cut a lawn without proper lawn care equipment. Only the greatest purists who nurture and worship their lawn will resist buying a pretty good lawnmower as their most vital bit of lawn care equipment.

There are two ways to do this, the hard way and the easy way. The hard way is a bog-standard mower that you push along without any motorization at all, but if you want to properly care for your lawn, you’ll need a decent mower that you can use without too much effort.

Of all the lawn care equipment that’s out there, the mower is the one that you’ll get most use of and, if you choose correctly, it will be the one that makes the most impact on your lawn and saves you the most time.

If you are in doubt about which type of mower you might buy, just take a look at the lawn and areas involved. For a large, very flat lawn, you will need a powered mower, probably a sit-on one. For a small lawn, get yourself one that will cut just right for that lawn. Unless it’s to massage your ego, you don’t need a sit-on mower for a lawn the size of a postage stamp!

With lawn mowers, there are plenty of different types to be found. For a reasonable choice that isn’t too expensive, go for a pushmower, without the push. That is the self-propelled mower that is power-assisted - just helping you out when you need it and giving you the flexibility of complete control.

Transmission Problems

July 25th, 2007

Many car owners love their Automatic Transmissions for comfort and ease. Put it in Drive, the torque converter does all the work and you Go. New technologies in Automatic Transmissions are now allowing six-speed automatic transmissions.

You will find these six-speed automatic transmissions in mainstream cars like the Mazda6 and Ford Five Hundred. The MINI Cooper S, made by BMW, is thinking of going with the six-speed automatic transmission in its car. Seven-speed automatics are also showing up in high end luxury cars.

Wood House Siding

July 24th, 2007

Exterior siding can be a valuable addition to your home. For one thing, new external siding can be great for improving the curb appeal of your home. In addition, it can assist in reducing the cost of maintenance on your home over the long haul. In order to truly understand, though, it is important to take a closer look at the important aspects of siding.

Though siding is available in a number of materials, the most popular are vinyl, aluminum and wood. What works best for you will depend greatly upon where your home is located, but vinyl is generally the most popular choice in most any climate. It is easy on the budget and the maintenance of it is virtually non-existent.

Sonwmobile Covers

July 24th, 2007

The earliest incarnation of snowmobiles date back to 1923, when Carl Eliason of Sayner, Wisconsin hand-built the first model. His invention consisted of a modified Model T Ford, stripped of its tires, and the undercarriage replaced with tracks and skis. His invention proved popular for rural mail delivery.

Thankfully, snowmobiles have progressed greatly since those heady days of delivering mail, and can be found throughout the world’s snowy realms. One such destination where snowmobiles have found a particular home is nestled in the resort community of Whistler BC.

Do You Have a Regular Cat Sitter?

July 24th, 2007

There will always come a time (more than one time for sure)
when you absolutely must be separated from your precious kitty. You will either
be traveling on a much needed vacation from stress and work, or rushing away
for a family emergency. Whatever the
reason, expected or unexpected, you will need to leave your cat behind.

What is the best way to make sure your kitty is comfy when
you are not around? Well, there are
plenty of options. The most popular is
to board your cat at your friendly neighborhood cat boarding facility. But a better option would be to have a
regular cat sitter that can sit with your cat.

Why is a regular cat sitter the best choice? Well, first of all, you cat will always be
comfortable with someone he already knows.
If your cat had a pleasant time with the cat sitter on your previous
getaway, he will be less nervous and scared.
Second, and maybe the most important is that you may trust your regular
cat sitter enough to sit for your cat in your home. Imagine how secure your kitty will feel
then! He’ll surely miss you, but he will
be luxuriating in the comfort of his very own home.

So before you even start planning for or even thinking about
that next trip, think about people who you might give the honor of sitting with
your cat while you are on vacation, and let your cat get to know them well,
before you even go away!

Day care centers or home day care

July 24th, 2007

Home day care providers would in an ideal world be responsible, capable individuals with previous experience in the field. The child would be comfortable around them, and the sitters would be able to provide the names of at least two referees who were satisfied with their services. Be sure to call up the referees and check.

With day care centers, the task becomes a bit easier as there are always other parents with whom one can talk. However, while the service may be regular, it is always better to inquire a little deeper into the care aspect of the agreement.

Always ask the number of children assigned to one minder. The fewer children per minder, the more attention they will get. Also ask if the minders have worked at the centre for long and whether they will be the long term minder of their group.

Ask about the standards of discipline and the center’s policies on sickness. Inquire about staff training and check out the safety aspects of both building and playground to your satisfaction. All these things are vital to the well being of your child. Ask for a copy of the centers policies with regard to how the institution is run, all the better.

Even after your child has been entered in a reliable day care of your choosing, it is advisable to make periodical visits, attend parent teacher meetings and above all to always know how your child feels about the centre. Keeping in touch with other parents is also a good way to track the progress of your child and any possible problems that might arise at the day care centre.

You can find a lot more information like this at my new website all about day care and other related information. I also have some pointers about starting your own day care.

Table Saw Reviews

July 23rd, 2007

Unlike all other mechanically driven saws, the chain saw is very different, as it is gas operated. It has a two-stroke engine that produces one horsepower for every pound it weighs.

The chain saw can be a very dangerous tool, if you do not know how to use it. Chain saws are very powerful. They make cutting firewood, small trees or fallen trees easier. But many accidents occur as a result of mishandling the chain saw that could have otherwise been prevented.
